Rains of the remains

31st Aug 2024

The typhoon has mostly disolved into a tropical storm, but heavy rains are still falling across Japan, reaching as far north as the Tohoku region. There's plenty of flooding, and isolated cases of landslides and building collapses, mostly on the southern island of Kyushu. It's enough to keep the masses entertained, and glued to their television sets so they have something to gossip about with the neighbors for the next week or so. Locally, we've had quite a bit of rain, but no real damages that I've seen yet.

I spent most of the day working on my web site and getting the details for the blog worked out. It's really quite remarkable how little documentation these Content Management Systems (CMS) have. There's lots of functioinality, but there's no documentation anywhere to tell you how to make something work, and there's no consistency between different themes on how to do things. I guess it's a constant learning experience, but sometimes I don't want to learn something new, I just want to use it.

We decided to go to Hakkai tonight, but Mayumi is paranoid about the remaining showers, so we're going an hour earlier than normal. I'm not sure how that's going to effect the rain, but sometimes it's easier not to try to explain logic to your spouse.
